How do I use Yoni Steam?

In a medium covered pot, pour 8 cups of water (preferably purified water). Place one serving into the water. Do not add or use “essential oils” as they are too strong and may burn sensitive genital tissue. Bring water to a soft boil for 5 minutes. Turn of the heat, leave the lid on and steep for another 5 minutes with the lid on. It is very important to test the temperature of the steam before using. If it is too hot wait 15 seconds and test it again until it feels comfortably warm to steam with. Pour 4 cups (half) of water into the bowl you have placed in your toilet. (a sitz bath is a great option for this) Wave your hand 8-10 inches over the herbal water to make sure it is not too hot. Remove your underwear and sit on the seat above the steaming water. Drape a large blanket or sheet around your waist down to the floor making sure no steam escapes. Make sure you keep yourself warm, keeping something on your feet (socks, slippers) and neck. You do not want any cold to get into your body while you are trying to warm it. You should feel a warm, rolling heat for up to 30 minutes.

The tissues of the vagina are exceptionally porous and absorbent, and the warmth of the steam works to soften and open them. When the herbs are placed in hot water their medicinal properties including volatile oils are released and carried to the surface of your skin, and to the inside of the vagina where they are absorbed into the bloodstream and, ultimately into to the uterus. Yoni steam is also known as Vaginal Steam is used to cleanse and revitalize the uterus.

Yoni steam is a holistic treatment practiced and respected by many around the globe. This ancient practice provides gentle and effective support of women’s wellness. Yoni steaming is safe and effective Yoni steaming is NOT intended to blow steam into the uterus, nor is the intention to get plant material into the vagina, as indeed those actions would be very invasive. Yoni steaming works far more subtly, as the constituents of the herbs are bonded with the water vapor, which enters through the pores. As long as the steam is not too hot, this gentle process is safe and non-invasive. You can easily treat yourself to a yoni steam in the comfort of your own home A yoni steam is a simple and accessible practice for any woman to do at home.

It involves placing a pot of hot water and aromatic herbs under a seat with a hole in it, disrobing from the waist down, and sitting over the steam for about 30 minutes while the steam gently permeates the skin. Yoni steaming can also be done in your toilet by turning off the water supply, flushing to empty the toilet and pour the hot water and herbal mixture into the toilet. Another option is to put two flat seated chairs next to each other, place the pot of herbs and hot water in between the chairs and sit on the inner edges of each chair hovering over the pot.
